The BUY IT Backstory
The concept of BUY IT might be new, but our story isn't.
It’s something our founder, Nick Glynne, has been thinking about since he first started out in business back in 1999.
How it all began
Nick was enjoying a successful career as a documentary filmmaker, but had become dissatisfied with the transient nature of project work and wanted to create something that would last.
On a whim, he borrowed ÂŁ2,000 to buy Easy Computers, a small tech shop in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. With no real game plan apart from a natural drive for perfection, Nick threw himself wholeheartedly into the business world and just two years later www.acernotebooks.co.uk was born.
Rapid acceleration
The next few years saw Buy It Direct expand exponentially, acquiring businesses, purchasing over 1,200,000 sq ft of warehouse space and building an ever-growing team of dedicated staff, all to keep up with demand.
As demand and profits continued to soar, Nick realised that around 40% of all sales were to businesses. He saw a gap in the market and seized the opportunity to create BUY IT, a one-stop B2B purchasing platform to enable businesses to buy everything, all under one roof.
From Buy it Direct to BUY IT
In 2025, Nick’s vision successfully came to life with the launch of the new website. BUY IT is officially open for business.
