Range cooker specification by sector
A range needs a gap built around it, so the width is decided at design stage. Measure the route in as well as the gap.

Almost every range cooker is hard wired, so budget an electrician. Anything with a gas hob needs a Gas Safe engineer and, in let property, an annual safety check.

Can a range cooker be plugged into a normal socket?
Very few can. Most are hard wired and need an electrician and a suitable circuit.
What width should we specify?
110cm and 90cm have the widest choice. 90cm fits more existing kitchens; 110cm gives more hob and cavity space. Both need a gap built to suit, so decide at design stage.
Can we run one on LPG at an off-mains site?
Yes, if the model is LPG convertible. The conversion must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and the kit is not always included, so check before ordering.
Is pyrolytic cleaning worth the extra?
In a property with changeovers or paid housekeeping, usually yes. It removes a slow manual job. In a family let cleaned by the tenant, catalytic is normally enough.
Can you deliver and install at sites with difficult access?
Range cookers are heavy and awkward, and doors, stairwells and lifts cause more failed deliveries than the gap itself. Confirm access, then add installation and recycling of the old unit. See delivery options.
