What we take and how it works
Just select the Remove and recycle and/ or Removal of packaging service when you place your order.

Electrical items and non-electrical items
We can recycle all electrical items, including hot tubs and tech, and non-electrical items such as mattresses, on a like-for-like basis.

Packaging and wrapping materials
We can also recycle any packaging, including Polystyrene and any polybags at the same time.

We can remove and recycle bulk items
If you’ve placed a bulk order, we can arrange the removal of all the old appliances, furniture etc., and if we’re installing or building them, we can take away all the packaging.
We don’t recycle furniture currently but get in touch to discuss bespoke bulk options.

How does it work?
If you've added the Remove and recycle option to your order at checkout, our team will take away the old appliance/s on delivery day. Old appliances must be disconnected and ready for collection.
Checklist for Remove and recycle
- We can only remove old refrigeration appliances if they have been fully defrosted, free of water, and ready for collection.
- We cannot remove dishwashers or washing machines if excess water is still in the pipes.
- All appliances requiring a collection must be uninstalled and disconnected before delivery of the replacement item. Unless we’re doing disconnection
Please check that all of the specific terms and conditions are met, as we are unable to refund this service.
If you’ve added the Removal of packaging option to your order at checkout, on delivery day, once your appliance has been installed, our team will take away all packaging, including Polystyrene and any polybags, to be recycled.
What happens to old items and packaging?
All end-of-life products and packaging are legitimately and ethically disposed of through certified and environmentally responsible recycling companies. This way, we prevent reusable parts or products from becoming landfill waste.
Appliances
We do our best to reuse or recycle every appliance we collect. These are stripped down for reusable parts and scrap metal. Hazardous materials are removed, and then shredded and sorted using magnets and other methods to recover metals and plastics for manufacturing new products.
Hot tubs
Hot tubs are professionally removed and dismantled for the separate recycling of materials like plastic, metal, and wood. They may even be sold or donated if they’re still functional.
Tech
Unwanted or outdated hardware devices like laptops, desktops and other tech products are collected and safely wiped of sensitive data. Usable components are removed and reconditioned for reuse, irreparable parts are recycled and working equipment is refurbished for resale to individuals or businesses.
Mattresses
All collected mattresses are disassembled into metal springs, foam, and textiles, which are then sorted and processed to create materials like recycled metal and underlay, or used for energy production.
Packaging
If the packaging can be reused, such as polybags, we’ll keep it for our returns team to use. Any cardboard obtained is collected, sorted, then shredded and made into pulp which is cleaned, pressed, and dried into rolls for manufacturing new products. We’ll reuse Polystyrene where possible; otherwise it’ll be collected (including unusable polybags), sorted, densified, then melted and pelletized to manufacture new products.

What about regulations?
Do you comply with the WEEE regulations?
Yes. As a business selling electrical goods, we fully comply with the UK's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations. Please find detailed information below:
Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps save our natural finite resources and reduces the environmental and health risks of sending electrical goods to landfills.
The WEEE legislation aims to reduce waste by ensuring producers fund the collection, treatment, and recovery of electrical waste.
It also obligates distributors, like us, to allow customers to return their waste equipment free of charge.
Our WEEE Commitments
Producer compliant: We are registered under the WEEE Care Compliance Scheme. Our WEEE Producer Registration Number is WEE/FB5353ZX
Free take-back service: Like-for-like take-back of old electrical items with any new Electrical or Electronic Equipment (EEE) from us, either within 28 days of the new purchase or if our Remove and recycle service is selected at the time of ordering.
Please note - Collected appliances must be disconnected and ready. (and old refrigerated appliances must be fully defrosted.)
Recycling Symbol: All new electrical goods are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, reminding you not to dispose of electrical equipment in your household bin.
Do you comply with battery regulations?
Yes we do. We dispose of used batteries separately from other waste, using our take-back, collection, and recycling facilities. We have a collection point at each of our premises (Huddersfield and EMDC) that supplies batteries for small electrical items. We keep a comprehensive record of our batteries' collection, recovery, and new life.
We carefully manage where our batteries go, using well-established partners to control the collection of end-of-life batteries.
