Frequently asked questions
Does a downdraft extract as well as a hood above the hob?
Not usually, like for like. Steam rises, so extracting from behind and below works against it. Where a hood above the hob is possible, it normally performs better for less money.
How much cabinet space does it take?
Most of the unit directly behind the hob. Confirm that on the kitchen drawing before it is signed off.
Where does the ducting go?
Down and out, usually through the floor void or the plinth. Confirm that route exists, particularly on upper floors and concrete slabs.
