TV specification by setting
Size the screen to the viewing distance, then pick the panel for the room's light.
| Setting | Size | Screen | Why | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Furnished lets | 43–50 inch | LED | Right size for most living rooms, at a low cost | View range |
| Holiday lets & hotel rooms | 43–55 inch | LED smart TV | Built-in apps mean no extra boxes to go missing | View range |
| Meeting rooms | 55–75 inch | LED or QLED | Readable screen shares from the back of the room | View range |
| Bars, receptions & lounges | 65–85 inch | QLED | Bright enough for well-lit spaces | View range |
A business showing or recording live TV, or using BBC iPlayer, needs a TV Licence for those premises.
Frequently asked questions
What size TV for the room?
For 4K, a viewing distance of roughly 1 to 1.5 times the screen size works well: about 1.4 to 2m for a 55 inch TV. In meeting rooms, go bigger so text is readable from the back.
Can a consumer TV be used in a hotel or bar?
Yes, many are, but they aren't built for all-day use and the warranty may exclude commercial use. For signage running 16 hours or more a day, look at commercial displays.
Do we need a TV Licence?
A business that watches or records live TV on any channel, or uses BBC iPlayer, needs a TV Licence for those premises. In lets, it's usually the tenant's responsibility unless the TV service is supplied as part of the let.
Can we buy on account?
Yes. A trade account gives access to trade pricing, bulk discounts and credit of up to ÂŁ20,000, with a named account manager for repeat orders.
Equipping a whole team?
A dedicated account manager for every trade account.
