For 4K, a viewing distance of roughly 1 to 1.5 times the screen size works well: about 1.4 to 2m for a 55 inch TV. In meeting rooms, go bigger so text is readable from the back.
Can a consumer TV be used in a hotel or bar?
Yes, many are, but they aren't built for all-day use and the warranty may exclude commercial use. For signage running 16 hours or more a day, look at commercial displays.
Do we need a TV Licence?
A business that watches or records live TV on any channel, or uses BBC iPlayer, needs a TV Licence for those premises. In lets, it's usually the tenant's responsibility unless the TV service is supplied as part of the let.
