Which rug material is easiest to keep clean?

Polypropylene and polyester resist most stains and can often be spot-cleaned with water. Wool is naturally resilient but needs gentler cleaning. Viscose looks luxurious but marks easily, so keep it out of high-traffic rooms.

Large enough for at least the front legs of the sofa and chairs to sit on it, usually 160 x 230cm or bigger. For a hallway, leave a gap of 10cm or so either side of a runner.
