Hanging a radiator on a wet system is plumbing work. Anything hard-wired should be connected by a qualified electrician.

Frequently asked questions

How do we size a radiator for a room?

Size it to the room's heat loss, which depends on its volume, insulation, windows and the temperature you need. Work out the heat loss in watts or BTU, then choose a radiator with at least that output. Outputs are usually quoted at ΔT50, so a low-temperature system such as a heat pump needs a bigger radiator for the same room.

What is a dual fuel radiator?

A radiator on the central heating that also has an electric element, so it can heat on its own when the boiler is off. It suits bathroom towel rails in summer. The element needs a fused spur fitted by an electrician. Check the listing to see if the element is included; heating elements are also sold separately.

Are electric radiators expensive to run?

Per unit, electricity costs more than gas, so where there's a gas boiler, central heating radiators are cheaper to run. Electric radiators make sense where there's no wet system or heat is only needed now and then, such as annexes or holiday lets between stays. Choose models with timers and thermostats.
